Beef and Garbanzo Bean Stew

 

2 cups cooked or canned (drained) garbanzo beans (chick-peas)
1 cup water
1 large yellow onion
4 Tbs. Olive Oil
1 lbs. beef stew meat, cut into cubes
3 Tbs. tomato paste
1 Tbs.  Turkish Garden Blend
Dash of freshly ground pepper

Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan.  Add the onions and cook for 2 -3 minutes.  Add the meat and cook until browned.  Stir in tomato paste, Turkish Garden Blend, pepper, and water.  Cover and cook for 40 minutes.  Add the garbanzo beans and cook an additional 30 minutes.  Serve hot over rice or fettuccine.

Serves 4 to 6
