Get out the Beer Glasses and Blarney Stones for St Patrick's Day
It's almost time for St. Patrick's Day. Consumers spent an estimated $3.76 billion on St. Patrick's Day in 2007, according to the National Retail Federation and nearly one-third of consumers planned to celebrate St. Patrick's Day at their favorite restaurant or bar.
And what do most people think about when they think about celebrating St. Patrick's day at their favorite restaurant, bar or pub? Beer. So start chilling those beer glasses, and let the party begin with some of these crowd pleasing twists on Irish beer.
Stout. Guinness is probably the best known stout in the US. But there are many out there including: Dry Stout, Irish Stout, Irish Dry Stout, Sweet Stout, Milk Stout, Cream Stout or Oyster Stout
Glassware: Pint beer mug or beer glass
Ingredients: Stout. It goes without saying.
Preparation: Pour stout into a frosty beer glass or beer mug. Serve.
Green Beer. What's more Irish than green beer?
Glassware: Pint beer mug or beer glass
Ingredients: 16 ounces golden Irish lager beer (such as Irish Amber, Irish Red Ale, or a Golden Irish Lager) and 3-6 drops green food coloring
Preparation: In a chilled pint size beer glass, pour beer into beer mug, add food coloring and mix. Pick up your beer glass and toast to the luck of the Irish.
Twisting Stout. Want to offer something a little different? Fill that frosty beer glass with a black and tan.
Glassware: Pint beer mug or beer glass
Ingredients: Pale ale and stout
Preparation:
Get a pint beer glass or beer mug. Gently fill it half way with pale ale. Next carefully pour stout into the beer glass until you have half ale and half stout. The stout will float on top of the ale making the beverage in your beer glass black and tan.
